ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite stories about Nana (Miram and Katie's great-grandmother) is about how she tended to disappear whenever there was housework to be done, and could usually be found in her favorite tree, reading.
She passed that on to her children. One of my fondest childhood memories is of our bi-weekly trips to the local library. I always came out with an armload of books. Almost all of us in the family are voracious readers.
I'm glad to see the girls are carrying on the tradition of the love of reading!
The other comic books that Miriam likes to read are our "Far Side" books and "Calvin & Hobbes". I can't blame her for looking at "Calvin", as Watterson has some great illustrations.
ReplyDeleteWe've sort of limited her viewing of the "Far Side." How do you explain a comic about the "Guatemalan Cow of Paradise" or headhunters* to a 4 year old.
*Example: "Daddy, what are all of those heads doing in that boat?"
