I'd be more willing to take these people seriously if they would only act their age. Or at the very least be capable of intelligent conversation. Instead, we get: "Listen to me! I can yell louder than you! Therefore my viewpoint is correct!"
There's more to these people than you think. "World Can't Wait" is a revolutionary communist movement that stages protests against the Bush administration and advocates its overthrow, and encourages college and high school students to disrupt classes and shut down campuses in order to protest. It is a front organization for the Revolutionary Communist Party, a Maoist organization that is involved in terrorist training and attacks, called for the assassination of President Reagan in 1984, and was a key instigator of the 1992 Los Angeles race riots. On their website and in their ad in the New York Times, WCW claims, "YOUR GOVERNMENT is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule. YOUR GOVERNMENT is moving to deny women here, and all over the world, the right to birth control and abortion." [World Can't Wait web site]
Sunsara Taylor, one of the founders of "World Can't Wait" is an avowed Maoist. Her supporters at the Guerilla News Network say of her: "Sunsara Taylor, an initiator of World Can’t Wait, has traveled the country and written extensively about the growing danger of Christian fascism in this country – including reporting live from Terri Schiavo’s hospice in Florida.... In the past year, Taylor has emerged as an important voice of a new generation rediscovering communism and the possibility of revolution, as re-envisioned by Bob Avakian, Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party.... She is a contributing writer for Revolution newspaper." [link here]
I heard an interview with her last week (on Michael Medved, I think), and she was very open about her beliefs. It is important to note that a number of Democrat members of Congress have signed on to the agenda of World Can't Wait, including Reps. John Conyers, Cynthia McKinney, Bobby Rush, and Maxine Waters, plus Leland Y. Yee, Speaker pro tem of the California State Assembly.
There's more information about the organization at DiscovertheNetwork.org, a group founded by David Horowitz.
