UPDATE: Wow, ditto Joe's comment. It's truly impressive that we can make a vehicle that propels a crew of human beings safely into outer space. Not only that, it's so we can take pretty pictures of stars! You can track the rest of the mission via Nasa's website.

ReplyDeleteI've always liked watching shuttle launches, no matter how routine they've become. It's still awe-inspiring that they can accelerate a 50,000 lb. weight to 17,000 miles an hour at an altitude of about 120 miles within the span of about 10 to 15 minutes.
As they say, it's not brain surgery, it's rocket science.
