The Absent Pickles

The two of you who frequently visit this blog probably noticed that we don't have much new material. We have a few good reasons for this. Really, we do. Here's a list of the top 5 reasons why we haven't blogged.

5.) We just got cable, and we've been mesmerized watching the weather channel and the home shopping network (it's even better than Skymall!).

1.) Waterlogged basement

Prior to the past week we were in CA visiting family. A great time had by all.

Since we've returned the weather forecast since last Friday has been comparable to Genesis 7. Parts of Alexandria, VA were hit very badly, and some people had severe flooding in their basements (7+ feet of water). We didn't have any flooding, but our sump pump (a water pump that does all of the hard work when our drain in the backyard can't handle the rain) decided to take it's mandated 15 minute break during the torrential rainfall this past Sunday night. During that 15 minutes we went upstairs to put our girls to bed, and came downstairs to see about 1 inch of water flowing in our basement.

Since that unfortunate deluge our house has been turned upside down. We've had a lot of work to do during the past week, and our computer is currently sitting in our living room as we clean out the basement. And our sump pump apologized profusely and begged not to be thrown in the trash heap (we're waiting, so it's currently on probation).

Mrs. P will no doubt have some blogs about our recent trips and adventures once our life returns to "normal."
