Nicky was initially disappointed in the house. When we told him it was
on a lake, he thought we meant that literally. He was expecting a
floating house, or at the very least an island.
Sorry, buddy.
He soon became reconciled, however. The owners of the house definitely designed it to bre used by families. There were all kinds of lake toys and equipment. The thing that allowed me to relax the most was the complete array of life vests in every size under the sun.

Grandma Pickles brought over Mr. Pickles' old gaming systems for the boys to use in between dunking each other in the lake.

Mr. Pickles' brother Uncle Dan traveled out for the wedding too, and he would hang out with us at the lake house.

A couple of my cousins had recently moved to the Minneapolis area, and we got to meet up with one of them! Ironically he and his family were just getting ready to leave on their own summer trip out west, so we were really grateful they had a couple spare hours to get together! We met up at this great park outside Minneapolis that was halfway between us.

Travis and I grew up near each other -- I always loved getting together with his family. His mom, my Aunt Laurie, was a treasure. I got to see his sister Emily and her family later in the summer -- more on that in another post!

It was great getting caught up on all their news. It always makes me happy to see family members doing well.
Shortly before the wedding, Mr. Pickles' family came over to the lake house to hang out, and so we could meet our soon-to-be new cousin, Alex.

She stayed with the other bridesmaids before the wedding, but I got to see her at Bethany's bridal brunch.
